Things to Remember

1. When travelling to Gangtok and Darjeeling, it is important to remember that these cities are located in the mountainous regions of India and can experience extreme weather conditions at any time of year. As a result, it is important to pack accordingly for all possibilities, such as warm layers of clothing for sudden drops in temperature or waterproof jackets and umbrellas for unexpected rain showers.

2. Be sure to research the local currency and exchange rate before travelling so you can budget more accurately during your trip. Additionally, some areas may accept credit cards but it’s always advisable to carry some Indian Rupees with you just in case.

3. As Gangtok and Darjeeling are both popular tourist destinations, it can be difficult to find transportation if you don’t book ahead of time. Booking flights or train tickets in advance can help you avoid being stranded without options once you arrive.

4. Taking altitude sickness pills is recommended prior to visiting Gangtok and Darjeeling as these cities are very high up in the Himalayan Mountains which make it easier for visitors to experience dizziness or nausea due to the lack of oxygen at those altitudes. It is also important not to over exert yourself when climbing or hiking in order to avoid altitude sickness altogether.

5. Lastly, be sure not to forget your camera! This area of India offers breathtaking views from its peaks and valleys that should not be missed out on capturing!
