One state, a whole India in miniature — white salt desert, Asiatic lions, Krishna's coast and the world's tallest statue
Gujarat is the kind of trip that surprises Bangalore travellers with how much it packs in. Stand on the endless white salt flats of the Rann of Kutch at full moon, watch Asiatic lions in Gir — the only place on earth they still roam wild — and bow your head at Somnath and Dwarka, two of the most sacred temples on the Arabian Sea. In between are UNESCO-listed Ahmedabad, Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram and the towering Statue of Unity. It is heritage, wildlife, faith and folk colour, all in one easy-to-reach state.
What makes Gujarat special is the warmth — the handloom villages of Kutch, the embroidered mirror-work, the simple-but-generous Gujarati thali, and the Rann Utsav tent city where folk music and dance carry across the desert under the stars. It is safe, welcoming, vegetarian-friendly and beautifully organised for travellers. We handle the permits, the long Saurashtra drives and the tent bookings.

Travel tips from our team
- The Rann of Kutch white desert is in a border zone, so you need a permit — quick and cheap via the free e-permit (rannpermit.gujarat.gov.in) or ~₹100/person at the Bhirandiyara checkpost; we arrange it
- Time your visit to the Rann Utsav season (~late Nov–early Mar) and, if you can, a full-moon night
- Gujarat is a dry (alcohol-prohibited) state — embrace the brilliant vegetarian thalis
- Distances in Saurashtra are long (Somnath, Dwarka, Gir are spread out) — plan an unhurried 5–6 nights
- Pack light layers — desert days are warm but Rann nights and early Gir safaris get cold
- Carry original photo ID plus photocopies for the Rann permit and Gir registration
Gujarat, answered
When is the best time to visit Gujarat?
October to March, cool and pleasant. The standout window is the Rann Utsav festival (roughly late November to early March) — and a full-moon night on the white desert is the most magical time of all.
How many days do I need for Gujarat?
Five to six nights — five covers Ahmedabad, Bhuj, the Kutch villages and the Rann; 6–7 lets you add Gir's lions and the Somnath–Dwarka coast.
What is the Rann Utsav and white desert?
A vast white salt desert near Dhordo, with a winter tent city of folk music, handicraft bazaars, camel-cart and ATV rides and Gujarati feasts. The desert is in a border zone, so a quick low-cost permit is needed — we arrange it.
How do I reach Gujarat from Bangalore?
Direct flights from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad (~2h), with Vadodara and Rajkot also reachable; we handle all road transfers.
What is included in an Oyster Gujarat package?
Return flights, hotels and a Rann Utsav tent stay, all transfers and sightseeing by private vehicle, the Rann permit, daily breakfast and on-trip support. Gir safari permits and entries can be added.
