Why Himachal is the mountain escape Bangalore keeps coming back to
If the city heat has worn you down, Himachal Pradesh is the cool, clean-air reset you've been needing. From the colonial charm of Shimla's Mall Road and the toy train, to Manali's Solang Valley adventures and the snow at Rohtang, to the Tibetan calm of McLeod Ganj and the raw high-desert drama of Spiti, this one state holds half a dozen very different holidays. Apple orchards, pine forests, rushing rivers and the white wall of the Dhauladhar, all within a few hours' drive of each other.
It's wonderfully flexible too. Come in spring for pleasant 20–25 degree days and blossom; come in deep winter for snowball fights and frosted deodar; come in summer to cross into Spiti's moonscape monasteries when the high passes finally open. We've been sending Bangalore families, honeymooners and friends' groups up to these hills since 2015, and we'll match the route to your dates and your pace.

Travel tips from our team
- To visit Rohtang Pass you need an online permit (rohtangpermits.nic.in) — seasonal, daily-capped, not issued on Tuesdays from the Manali side; Lahaul/Spiti needs the separate Beyond Rohtang permit
- Spiti is realistically a May–Oct trip; do not pair it with a winter snow holiday
- Mountain roads are slow and winding — keep buffer time and carry motion-sickness tablets for kids
- For snow, late Dec–Jan at Kufri, Solang and Sissu; carry layers and waterproof shoes
- Altitudes are real in Spiti and Rohtang — hydrate and go slow on day one
- Indians do not need permits for the main Spiti circuit; foreign nationals may need an ILP near border areas
Himachal, answered
What is the best time to visit Himachal?
March–June is pleasant (a true summer escape); December–February brings snow at Manali, Shimla and Kufri. Spiti Valley is separate — accessible only roughly May–October when the passes are open.
How many days do I need for Himachal?
Five to six nights for a relaxed Shimla–Manali trip, or 6–7 to add Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj; Spiti deserves 7–9 nights on its own.
Will we see snow?
Late December–January gives the best chance at Kufri, Solang and Sissu; other months still have snow at higher points like Rohtang (when open).
How do we reach Himachal from Bangalore?
A direct Bengaluru–Chandigarh flight (~2.5–3h), then a scenic 3–4 hour drive to Shimla or onward to Manali; or via Bhuntar/Kullu, or Delhi by air and road.
What is included in the package?
Round-trip flights, hotels, daily breakfast and dinner, and private-car sightseeing and transfers. Paragliding, skiing and the Rohtang and other permits are usually extra.
