UK visa from Bangalore
The UK visa, explained
Indian passport holders need a visa for the UK — there is no visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry. You apply online via gov.uk and give biometrics at a VFS Global centre in India. Note: the UK ETA does NOT apply to Indian nationals — as a visa-national, your Standard Visitor visa is your travel authorisation.
Documents required

Visa rules change frequently. A tourist visa is granted at the discretion of the consulate — we prepare the strongest possible application, but no agent can guarantee an outcome.
UK visa, answered
Do Indians need a visa for the UK?
Yes — a Standard Visitor visa, applied online via gov.uk with biometrics at VFS in India. The UK ETA does not apply to Indians; your visa is your authorisation. We assist with the full application.
How much does the UK visa cost and how long does it take?
From April 2026 the 6-month Standard Visitor visa fee is £135 (about ₹14,000–16,500), plus VFS charges. A standard decision usually takes around 3 weeks after biometrics, with a faster priority service available. Apply 4–6 weeks ahead.
When is the best time to visit the UK?
May to September brings the longest, warmest days, with June and September especially pleasant. December is lovely for festive London lights and Christmas markets, though cold and short on daylight.
How long should we plan for a UK trip?
We suggest 7–8 nights — a week to enjoy London with day trips to Stonehenge, Oxford and the Cotswolds, plus a night or two for Edinburgh and the Highlands by train.
Is the UK good for a family holiday?
Very much so — it is English-speaking and easy to navigate, with the Harry Potter Studio Tour, free world-class museums, river cruises and castles that children love.
